Tobago - Day 1

I had an uneventful flight to Tobago, with a brief stopover in Antigua.  More relaxed than usual thanks to a welcome upgrade courtesy of BA.  Met by Alison at the airport, then off to her delightful villa about 15 minutes drive away. We ate dinner at a local restaurant - the Fish Pot - which as the name suggests,  features a variety of fresh local fish on its menu. The evening entertainment included listening to a variety of local wildlife sounds including tree frogs and various types of bird.
Today started with an early morning walk along the local beach, but the main agenda was lengthy shopping trip to Scarborough to buy stuff for the villa.  Scarborough is the principal town in Tobago but that is not really saying much.  I would love to report that it retains much of its original colonial charm, but unfortunately this is not really the case (if indeed it ever had any such thing).  The place is in a kind of time warp, but its hard to place the precise era.  I wish I could have found something that inspired me enough to take a photo.  The locals are very friendly and welcoming though.
Returning to the villa at the end of the afternoon, it was good to relax in the pool with a cold Carib beer!

Dartmouth

Dartmouth was the first stop on our Devon itinerary. Alison and I stayed in the quaint Barnard's Cove Hotel, which had been very tastefully refurbished, retaining all its ancient features.  Slightly noisy being next to the ferry queue and a pub.  In the evening we went to the New Angel restaurant to celebrate Alison's birthday.  An excellent meal, and entertaining to see the chefs at work in the open kitchen.
The following morning we wandered around the town and popped in to several of the art galleries that are to be found in the various small side streets.
